Tracy Sulkin is an assistant professor in the departments of
political science and speech communication at the University
of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She earned her B.A. in
political science from Western Washington University in 1997
and her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 2002.
Her research interests include representation, legislative
behavior, and congressional elections, with a particular
focus on the linkages between legislators' experiences as
candidates in campaigns and their behavior as policymakers in
Congress. She is the author of Issue Politics in Congress
(Cambridge University Press, 2005), and has published
articles in the American Political Science Review, Political
Analysis, American Politics Research, and Political
Psychology. Her current project explores how representatives
and senators make and keep campaign promises.
