James L. True is the founding holder of the Jack Brooks Chair in Government and Public Service at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. He holds a B. A. in English from McMurry College, an M. S. in government from Southern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in political science from Texas A&M University. He retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of colonel after serving positions in airlift, aerospace rescue, weather reconnaissance, air operations, plans, professional education, and financial management. Dr. True has authored and co-authored several articles in national journals as well as several book chapters.
